No I haven’t seen the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean. At least not yet so I can’t comment on it.
What I saw was the first episode of the new CBS reality show Pirate Master. This was one of those shows while watching the previews I was looking for a let down. It never really happened. All in all the first episode was good enough to take a 2nd and possibly another 13 looks. At least I think I heard it said there are 14 episodes.
The premise is simple, A crew is searching for the treasure of a famous Pirate, divided into 14 sections. Each week it’s a search for a portion of the treasure. This week the 16 members were broken into 2 teams and the first team to arrive shared the treasure. A Captain was elected and he selected 2 mates. The Captain gathered in 1/2 of the winnings while each of the 2 mates shared a 1/4. The final 1/4 was split between the other 5.
Then the Captain selected 3 from the 15 crew. The crew, those not selected, 2 Mates and Captain, vote on who will be castoff. Their can be a mutiny and the Captain castoff, but all have to vote that way.
I still think they should have tried to get Rupert from Survivor involved in the show. he was our lovable Pirate on that show. But somehow they seem to have found a good replacement. Louie, who also happens to be from Maryland’s Eastern Shore as am I, fits the mold perfectly. I really hope he hangs around awhile, he’ll help make the show a hit.
