I’m sure that cute title will be used thoroughly when talking about the 17 year old Jordan Sparks winning American Idol 6. I’m not surprised at all. About 6 weeks ago I told someone that I had a feeling that she would wind up winning it all.
When the final 12 was picked, I rated her as the third best female. She wasn’t quite as good as the 2 I picked as the frontrunners. I thought Melinda and Lakisha would be the final 2. She was far better than the other 2 girls and better than all of the males. In fact, I thought that when it was down to 6 there might only have been one male singer left. As time past I was proved wrong, but that’s reality TV.
She wasn’t as polished as the other 2 girls. But over the course of the show she was the one that improved and matured the most. Melinda remained pretty close to the same. The Melinda you saw on her last show was much like the one that was first seen.
Lakisha may have actually taken a small step backwards. That’s perhaps the reason that she was voted out at number 4. Blake was in my opinion just along for the ride and very lucky to get as far as he did. But in the same breath I will say he may be the one from this year’s show that breaks out to be the star.
While I’m doing American Idol, I want to rate the 6 winners as I see them.
1) Carrie Underwood: Simply the best and I do think that Simon had it right when he said she will make the most of them all.
2) Kelly Clarkson: She’s a talent. I just hope fame doesn’t go to her head.
3) Jordan Sparks: She should have a long career in front of her
4) Taylor Hicks: I think he won the popularity contest due to his mannerisms and individuality. He’s good, but I’ve seen better.
5) Ruben Studdard: My biggest problem with him is that I wonder if he really can make it with a long performing career.
6) Fantasia: Not sure how she even came close to the finals. Jennifer Hudson was the winner that season even if she did end up down the line.
