Getting the Text for Vice-President

By | Aug 23, 2008

For the past couple of weeks it’s been a big movement by the Barak Obama camp that you need to sign up to be on the list to be one of the first to know who he would choose as his Vice-President running mate.

For those of you who may have been awake at 3 AM EDT to get he message, congratulations on being one of the first. Even though shortly after midnight the information began leaking and by the time of the text message, no one who was awake was shocked nor surprised.

As for me, I went to bed before Midnight and didn’t wake up until after 7 so when I turned on the news I learned who was picked, why and when. Did I feel left out? Not in the least. Nor was I surprised. In fact, I may have been more surprised if it was any one other than Joe Biden.

Whether or not it was a good choice, the election will answer that. At least in some minds. If Obama-Biden wins, it’ll be because of Obama’s selection of Biden for his running mate. If they lose, it’ll be because he should have picked someone else.

It would seem to me that for those who did sign up, having the message sent out at 3 in the morning, probably didn’t get them advance information on the running mate. They may still have heard it on the morning news. And did those who got the message, while they were sleeping, feel any better being woken up to get it?

One thing that I am fairly comfortable of saying, those who registered to be texted, is now on the Obama-Biden mailing list and I imagine they will be sent plenty of information and request for help between now and the election in November.

After being on the Kerry-Edwards list in 2004, I’m glad not to be on this one.
