Last night I was watching the Country Music Awards from Las Vegas. Las Vegas isn’t Nashville, but I suppose that it’s a good as any other city. But the gain I think it’s been in Las Vegas for the last few years so that’s not a complaint.
And I’m not really complaining, the show was pretty good. Although looking at the acts, 23 year old Miranda Lambert, 17 year old Taylor Swift and 24 year old Carrie Underwood, it looks as if Country music is getting younger and blonder. Oh and I left out Kelly Pickler.
The first hour of the show was on at the same time as American Idol, but if you were watching the Awards, you would have to wonder if it wasn’t also partly the American Idol Awards. American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood performed and oh yes Kelly Pickler was there too.
So move aside Martina McBride and Faith Hill, the young blondes are here. Also moving aside may be Brooks and Dunn being replaced by Little Big Town and Sugarland. Two groups that also have a young blonde.
Country Music is the new Pop Music.
